This collection consists of newsletters and writings relating to the University of Georgia Women's Physical Education Department, the Georgia Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, and the American Association of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. A number of the items were authored by Dr. Clifford Gray Lewis who was a member of the department's faculty. The documents in the collection date from 1923 through 1991. Other materials included within this collection are clippings, a scrapbook, meeting minutes, directories, handbooks, correspondence, speeches and awards/honors belonging to M.L. Soule, constitutions and by-laws, bulletins, and programs.

The collection is comprised of interviews with current and former faculty members and deans of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. Participants discuss topics including the history of home economics and human ecology, the evolution of the discipline and its acceptance and application over the past century, as well as its outlook for the future. Participants also talk about curriculum development, experiential learning initiatives and internships, and interdisciplinary partnerships with other colleges on campus. Also discussed is the 1990 name change from the College of Home Economics to the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
